it's probably just a cat!

Don't forget about the party tomorrow! I'll make sure I'm well enough to enjoy myself. Stop by after lunch and by dinnertime we'll be grilling up burgers and hot dogs.

In the morning Moe and I have to run out and get a few things and we'll stop by the fireplace store to see if we can get some quotes for a stove and its installation. It would be nice to get that out of the way.

I was treated to brown water when I got home as the Town has been working on the water lines in nearby streets and apparently they got dirt into the lines that went to our street. I made the best of it and stood outside with the house watering all of Moe's flowers until the water ran clear. I figured we're under a water ban for outdoor watering, but if my water is brown, I can use it to water the flowers and the tomato plants, which are the only thing the woodchucks haven't eaten. You should see all the tomatoes that are turning red in Moe's garden - if anyone likes them, just ask for some since we're not big tomato eaters.

Now a funny story... especially since it involves Sharon...which makes it twice as funny as a story about anyone else.

Sharon claimed the other day that while she was walking along the street, she ran across something down in the woods that she didn't think was quite normal. She said that when she got a good look at it, it was orange and it seemed like a big cat. After conferring with others and apparently googling it, she decided that she had seen a Mountain Lion.

When I heard the story, I was like "a mountain lion...maybe in the Berkshires but there are no mountain lions in Metrowest." I could see I suppose one getting lost, but that's a big chance. Not only that, there's just not enough habitat to support them in this area since they are pretty solitary creatures and like to be able to roam around. I told her she probably saw a house cat and since she's blind, she couldn't really see it that well.

Well, Sharon claimed I was wrong and that it was really a Mountain Lion that she had seen.

Fast-forward to last night...

She is in the car and we drove by the spot where she supposedly saw this mythical beast and I was like "oh look, it's a giant mountain lion" and of course there was nothing there. That's when she started to backtrack a bit. We couldn't get the whole story out her, but apparently on reflection (and perhaps by running into the creature again), she realized that her original idea of the creature's scale was off. I think in the end that it turned out to be someone's house cat.

Hence, there is no wild mountain lion on the loose in Metrowest anymore.

When she came over this evening to drop off my cell phone that I had left in her car last night, I finally got the whole story. She went back to search for the creature with a camera so she could document it.

Here is what she actually saw...

A wild mountain lion it isn't.

Do you think she needs new glasses?
